Intermediate Sudoku technique #2

Identify for each box if there are any cells which has digits continuously in the same row or column

Another useful strategy that can help in solving sudoku puzzle will be by utilizing the three cells that have digits continuously in a same row or column in the same box. But how could this be helpful?

Let’s look at the below example:

First, let’s look at Column B, we have digit 5, 3 and 9 continuous in a column. Digit 8 is in Cell C2, and since digit 8 does not appear in B4, B5, B6, so it must be either in Cell A5 or A6. With the hints we can also conclude that Cell B8 is digit 8 as Cell I7, E9, C2 are already having digit 8, and that digit 8 for Row A is either in A5 or A6.

To summarize, it is important to realize that this strategy is only most appropriate to be used in the same row or same column and it must be in the same box.

When you could find the above situation, and the digits in the neighboring box are different from the three digits in the three continuous cells, the effect will be great.
